Did you know, millions of pounds are lost every year by Brits who choose to use their bank rather than a currency specialist to transfer money to Tenerife - or transfer money from Tenerife to the UK.
As a mother to a curious three-year-old, I'm forever on the hunt for something a little different here on the island. Add in occasional childminding for an 11-year-old, and I have a battle. We’ve done the water parks, the beaches, the swimming pools and the ball parks, but finding something new to keep everybody happy has been a challenge – until now.
If you're in Tenerife South and wondering where to find the freshest produce, look no further than the Adeje Farmers' Market. This bustling hub offers a delightful array of seasonal fruits and vegetables, making it the best place to buy fruit and veg in Adeje.
The so called 'anti-tourism' protests in Tenerife (and the other Canary Islands) isn't a bid to kill the golden goose. And despite the sensationalist headlines in the UK media, their campaign isn’t for tourists to “go home.” It’s “let’s do this better.”
Easter celebrations in Tenerife are a solemn yet illustrious display of the island’s cultural and religious heritage; a world away from the chocolate egg hunts we may fondly rememeber.
X-Sur Shopping Centre is the ultimate destination for those who crave an all-in-one experience of shopping, dining and entertainment in Costa Adeje. With a variety of top-tier shops, restaurants, and fun-filled activities, X-Sur is the place to be whether you're a local or just visiting Tenerife.
If you thought Tenerife was just about sun-kissed beaches and vibrant nightlife, well, you're in for a whale of a surprise! The waters surrounding this island are a veritable playground for some of the ocean's most majestic creatures.
Who says Tenerife is just for the grown-ups? The island is a playground for kids and adults alike! From water parks to zoos, there's no shortage of family-friendly fun. So, pack those juice boxes and let's go!
Just like “The Code” from the film Pirates of the Caribbean, these are more guidelines than rules on how NOT to be a Brit behaving badly at the beach.

Our guide to Anaga Mountains by our Tenerife local expert - Look at the pictures of Tenerife on any travel agent's website or in the pages of a glossy holiday brochure. Now throw them away. Welcome to the Anaga Mountains.
Nestling in the foothills of the seven million year old Teno Mountains in Tenerife's north western corner, Buenavista is part of what is known as the Isla Baja region –...
Our guide to Candelaria by our Tenerife local expert - One of the lesser-known coastal resorts on the island, Candelaria is located in the north east of Tenerife, just a short drive away from Santa Cruz.
Our guide to Costa Adeje by our Tenerife local expert -
Our guide to Costa del Silencio by our Tenerife local expert - Located on the flight path between Las Galletas and Amarilla Golf, Costa de Silencio doesn’t really live up to its name, which was presumably given to it many years before the arrival of the Reina Sofia airport.

Our guide to Garachico by our Tenerife local expert - Garachico...
Nestled on the southern coast of Tenerife you’ll find the lively resort of the Golf del Sur which is a haven for erm, you’ve guessed it…golfers! It stands out as a ...
Our guide to La Gomera by our Tenerife local expert - Most of the tourist accommodation is in Valle Gran Rey on the west coast although at Playa Santiago to the south, o...
Our guide to Las Galletas by our Tenerife local expert - Quite possibly the least developed resort on the south coast, Las Galletas is an attractive fusion of traditional seaside town with a cosmopolitan new marina, a strong fishing community and a penchant for moules y frites, or mussels and chips to you and me.
Colourful fishing boats bob on the waters of a charming little harbour in a cosy village called Los Abrigos nestled on Tenerife’s south coast. A far cry from the neon lights and party atmosphere’s of major tourist hang outs like Los Cristianos and Playa de las Amércas, this is an example of real Tenerife. A hidden gem that many holidaymakers are yet to explore, we want to point you in the right direction of where to go, which doesn’t just include the most popular resorts on the island. If you want something a bit different and possibly a little more discerning... check it out.
Our guide to Los Cristianos by our Tenerife local expert - Separated by a rather hazy line that edges the lush fairways of Golf Las Americas, Los Cristianos grew from a shy, retiring fishing community focused on the comings and goings of a handful of gaily painted fishing boats into a confident family resort stretching inland as far as topography allows.
Our guide to Los Gigantes by our Tenerife local expert - The focal point is a pretty marina lined with a handful of quayside bars and restaurants. Watching the comings and goings of the excursion boats and private yachts is always worth the price of a beer or a coffee. If you’re tempted to be less of a spectator, diving trips and deep-sea fishing excursions depart daily. If you want something even more adventurous, get talking to the yacht-eratti in the harbour – you never know, you might land a job as crew and set sail to the Caribbean.
Tenerife's answer to Lost World, the tiny hamlet of Masca is the second most visited destination on Tenerife after Teide National Park, and with good reason. The first non-Canarios who discovered Masca must have felt like they had stumbled onto Isla de Muerte and uncovered the hidden treasure. And according to tour operator myth, that analogy is particularly apt as Masca is often said to have originated as a pirate hideout.
Regarded as Puerto Santiago’s quieter and more relaxed neighbour, Playa de la Arena is an unpretentious little holiday resort that often gets overshadowed by more the lively destinations on the west coast, such as Los Gigantes. Although not action-packed with trendy clubs or exciting theme parks, Playa de la Arena offers a natural, rugged type of beauty that the mainstream holiday resorts can’t compete with.
Our guide to Playa de las Americas by our Tenerife local expert - What can be said about Playa de las Americas that hasn’t been written already? One of Europe’s top holiday resorts received such a slagging in the UK media several years ago that you’d be forgiven for thinking it was Hell, Hades and a horror movie all rolled into one. Well, it isn’t, and never was.
Our guide to Puerto de Santiago by our Tenerife local expert - Nestled in the west of the island, between Playa de la Arena and Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago is small fishing village which is slowly developing into an up-and-coming tourist resort.
Forget preconceptions of Tenerife gleaned from Uncovered-type reportage. Puerto de la Cruz is a completely different cage of canaries. There’s more subtlety here, more sophistication, more sensory feasts than are often served on the wide-screen platter by the media beasties who paint the island in simple primary colours. Ever since the arrival of the first fan-fluttering tourists in the 1800’s it’s remained the epitome of graceful tourism - a matrimony of serenity and sun in a home of distinctive character.
Our guide to Santa Cruz by our Tenerife local expert -
Our guide to Teide by our Tenerife local expert - On the site of what was once a huge volcano, Mother Nature has decorated Teide National Park with a weird gallery of basalt and pumice rock statues rising from a sandy plain.
